What is BackPack and how does it help?

In order to provide better support, we developed a small app that reports about the status of a PC, or server.
When you have large numbers of devices to manage, it's very helpful to have a dashboard to see all the important status values in one place.

BackPack checks on things such as:

  • Remaining hard drive space
  • Memory
  • Network connections
  • Software versions

BackPack is an expandable platform
and allows the review of many important health and status values.

The central dashboard can be searched or browsed to check on the overall environment. System notices are highlighted on the dashboard to raise awareness.

Since its inception, BackPack has become one of our many tools that can be used to enhance our effectiveness
and increase the awareness needed to manage a distributed environment with unique conditions.
